A Simple Process Built Around Your Business
Most small business owners don’t have time to learn how websites work, and they shouldn’t have to. Our small business website design process keeps things simple: we learn your business first, do the research, build your site, and stay in touch after launch.
Strategy Before Design
We learn what makes your business different before we design a single page.
Plain English, Always
No jargon. If a term matters, we explain it in plain words.
You Stay in Control
You review the first draft, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
This process is how we build every site for our website design and rebuild clients, and it sets the stage for local SEO and lead generation too.
The 5 steps
Our 5-Step Website Design Process
Here’s exactly what happens at each stage of our website design process, from the first conversation to your free check-up.
01
Get to Know Your Business
We start with a detailed conversation about your business: what you do, who your best customers are, and what’s working and what isn’t. This is the foundation for everything we build.
What to expect:
- Questions about your services and your best customers
- Your goals, like more calls, more quotes, or better clients
- What you like, and don’t like, about your current website
02
Research Your Market and Keywords
Next, we research your local market and the words your customers type into Google. This keyword research shows us which services people search for and where you have the best chance to stand out.
What to expect:
- A look at your local competitors
- The searches your customers actually use
- Opportunities and quick wins for your business
03
Build Your Website
We build your site around your business and the areas you serve. We write the copy for you and build in the SEO basics, so Google can understand what you do and where.
What to expect:
- A page for each of your main services
- Your service areas clearly listed
- A mobile-friendly design with easy ways to call or request a quote
04
Review and Refine
You see the full first draft before anything goes live. Tell us what you’d like changed, and we’ll update it. Up to 2 rounds of revisions are included, and your site launches only when you approve it.
What to expect:
- A complete first draft to review
- Up to 2 rounds of changes included
- Launch only after your approval
05
Free SEO and Content Check-Up
About 6 to 8 months after launch, you get a free SEO and content check-up. We look at how your site is doing on Google and give you clear next steps.
What to expect:
- A look at how your site shows up in search
- What’s working and what could be better
- Clear, plain-English next steps

FAQ
Questions About Our Process, Answered
How long does the website design process take?
It depends on how many pages you need and how quickly we can gather details like photos and service information. You’ll get a timeline with your quote, before any work starts.
What do I need to prepare before our first call?
Nothing formal. It helps to think about your main services, your best customers, and any websites you like. If you have a logo or photos of your work, have them handy.
Do I have to write my own website content?
No. We write the copy for you based on our conversation about your business. You review it and tell us what to change.
How many changes can I make to the first draft?
Up to 2 rounds of revisions are included. If you’d like more changes after that, we’ll quote them up front so there are no surprises.
What is keyword research?
It’s finding the exact words your customers type into Google when they look for a business like yours. It helps us decide which pages to build and what to call them. Google explains the basics in its SEO Starter Guide.
What happens after my website launches?
Your site is yours. You can add an optional monthly plan for hosting, updates, and backups. And our website design process doesn’t end at launch: about 6 to 8 months later, you get a free SEO and content check-up.
How much does a new website cost?
Every project is different, so every quote is built around what you need. You’ll know the price before our website design process begins, and you only pay for it if you love it.
Who owns the website when it’s done?
You do. Your domain, your website, and your Google Business Profile all belong to you. No lock-in contracts.
